From the Minutes of the meeting:

Mayor Johnson introduced a presentation by Nettie Coad, 706 Martin Luther King Drive, on the historical
perspective of the Ole Asheboro Street Neighborhood and requested funding to complete the revitalization project. Ms.
Coad indicated that the project would dovetail with the revitalization efforts of South Side and the East Market Street
Corridor and reiterated the community’s desire to complete the redevelopment project.

Council expressed their appreciation for the advocacy efforts and steadfastness of Nettie Coad over the decades in
her advocacy efforts in neighborhood redevelopment. Staff was directed to compile a historical perspective relevant to
progress in the neighborhood and devise alternate funding sources in conjunction with a projected timeline.
